Colorado Columbine Girls State

Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary

Alumni

Are you one of the thousands of women who have completed the Girls State program in Colorado or elsewhere?  If so, we would love to hear from you!

Please complete as many fields as you desire to let us know what the Girls State program meant to you, what you have done since you were a Girls State Delegate and how you can become involved.  Current projects the Columbine Girls State Board of Directors are working on include establishing a Girls State Alumni Auxiliary Unit for those who are eligible, enlisting financial support for our Girls State program and expanding our fledgling web site.  As a Girls State alumnus you are also eligible to be a counselor or speaker at Columbine Girls State.  What could be more rewarding than helping the current generation share the experience that was so valuable to many of us?

"I remember learning about our government by participating in it first hand.  I remember sitting on the senate floor and hearing everybody's bills.  Also, there were cities filled with girls from all over Colorado that were leaders in their schools.  The counselors were caring and humorous.  I will always remember the talent show and the songs we sang daily. Last, I will never forget how proudly my cities counselor presented flag etiquette.  -- Karen (CO - 1998)

I remember "Parly Pro presentation with Loretta Simonson.  The JC's -- they were funny that year. Lots more memories from my years as a counselor." -- Michelle (CO - 1993)

"What has stuck with me thru the years has been the education I received of how the governmental processes work and the girls..." -- Heather (CO - 1991)

"The new appreciation I had for my country and it's veterans.  I was no longer ashamed to salute the flag of this great country."  --  Molly (CO - 1979)

"My counselors who told me I could when I thought I couldn't and for years after girls state reminded me again and again that I could."  -- Debbie (CO - 1974)

"... was fortunate enough to begin working at the San Miguel County Clerk's office in Telluride, Co  Have been ...helping in the Election Department...  NOW I UNDERSTAND THE TEACHINGS OF GIRLS STATE and am proud to utilize it.  Thanks!" -- Lorraine (CO - 1963)
